About Us

Story of our origin

Welugu is born through a teenager’s compassion towards homelessness. As we were looking for solutions, we came across the sustainable development goals (SDG) of the UN. We were disheartened by the plight of many people below the poverty line. Recent estimates for global poverty are that 9.2% of the world, or 689 million people, live in extreme poverty on $1.90 or less a day, according to the World Bank. We wanted to support and play a role in achieving the relevant SDGs but primarily “SDG 1 No Poverty”. Our priorities are empowering individuals through a holistic approach consequently affecting the development of the community. We also plan to bring together the individuals in need and the individuals or organizations who can provide that need. We are embarking on our journey with our first location: Golla Kandukuru.
